Road 200 out, Highway 41 north

Road 200 links North Fork out to Highway 41, and from there it is north into Oakhurst with Road 426 branching off in town. The mileage understates the trip, because the road does the work rather than the driver, and the time it takes has more to do with what is ahead of you than with distance.

Storms, fallen rock and snow at the higher points all slow that road. Patients from North Fork are the ones we most often tell to leave margin, and the ones most likely to be given the first appointment of the day. If the road turns on the morning of your visit, call.

What one trip can be made to cover

The office schedules differently for a patient driving Road 200. Some of that is on us, and some of it needs you to ask.

  • Say where you are driving from when you book. It changes the length of the appointment we set aside, not just the time of it.
  • Ask whether treatment on more than one tooth can be combined. Often it can, particularly where one anesthetic covers both. Where it cannot, you will be told why.
  • Take the first slot of the day. It is the one least likely to be pushed back by anything upstream of it.
  • Bring the household together. Consecutive appointments turn several trips into one and are a normal request here.
  • Get imaging and examination done in the same visit as treatment where that is safe, rather than as a separate trip that produces a plan and nothing else.
  • Deal with patient forms before you leave home.

Dr. Robert J. Brosi is a general dentist, and the practice covers most of what a household needs over a lifetime. Exams, cleanings and digital imaging. Crowns, bridges, dentures, implants and root canal therapy. Diagnosis and treatment of gum disease, which quietly costs adults more teeth than decay does.

Also conservative cosmetic work, clear aligners, treatment for jaw pain and clenching, and oral appliances for patients already diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Where a case belongs somewhere else, you will hear that at the planning stage rather than after a course of treatment has started.

Can everything be done in one visit if I am driving that far?

Sometimes. It depends on what is needed, how long you can comfortably sit, and whether a laboratory step is involved. Say when you book that you are traveling.

What if the road is closed on the morning of my appointment?

Call and say so. Nobody is going to hold a missed appointment against a road you did not control.

Is it worth the drive for a cleaning?

That is your call, but a cleaning is also the appointment where problems get caught small. Skipping the small trips is usually what produces the big ones. Hours are Monday to Wednesday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Thursday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
