The drive, and the part of it that varies

The highway portion is simple. What varies is the front end of the trip, because Coarsegold is spread across a lot of ground. Somebody living close to Highway 41 has a short run. Somebody up a grade on a dirt road in February has a different morning entirely, and the office would rather know that when the appointment is being made than find out when you are late.

Once you are in Oakhurst, Road 426 leaves Highway 41 in town and the address numbers climb quickly after that. First-time visitors regularly go too far. The directions page sets out what to look for, and calling from the road is fine.

What you can have done in one building

Dr. Robert J. Brosi is a general dentist, which covers the large majority of what a household needs. Where something belongs elsewhere, you will hear that before treatment is planned rather than partway through it.

Keeping teeth
Exams, cleanings and digital imaging, plus the screening part of the visit that is looking for things other than decay.
Repairing teeth
Fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, implants and root canal therapy, for teeth that are cracked, worn, infected or already gone.
Gums and bone
Charting, treatment and long-term maintenance of gum disease, which quietly costs adults more teeth than decay does.
Appearance
Whitening, bonding, veneers and porcelain crowns, planned so the result is not obvious.
Bite, sleep and alignment
Jaw pain and clenching, clear aligners, and oral appliances for diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea.
Things that cannot wait
Broken teeth, lost crowns, swelling and severe pain. Call early in the day.

You are already making the trip, so use it

Most Coarsegold patients come to Oakhurst for other reasons anyway, and the sensible move is to hang the dental appointment off a trip that was happening regardless. That works best when you tell the front desk what you are doing. If you want the last slot before lunch so you can shop afterward, ask for it. If you would rather be first in and straight out, ask for that instead.

Families are worth booking together. Two or three consecutive appointments is a normal request here and it turns three trips into one. If somebody in the household needs a longer procedure, that person can be scheduled while the others are seen for routine work.

Open Monday to Wednesday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Thursday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, closed Friday through Sunday. For anyone driving down the hill toward the valley for work, the Thursday start is the one to ask about.

Worth handling before you leave the house

  • Fill in patient forms in advance so the appointment starts when you arrive rather than fifteen minutes later.
  • Ask your previous dentist to send records and recent images. It saves repeating x-rays and gives us a baseline.
  • Bring a current list of medications, including anything for blood pressure, blood thinning or bone density. All three change dental decisions.
  • Check how your benefits work before treatment is planned rather than after. How insurance is handled here.
  • If the weather has turned or the road is bad, call. Rescheduling is easier than a missed appointment nobody explained.
