Treatment

Everything we do, and what each one is actually for.

Most of dentistry is one of two jobs: stopping a problem before it starts, or rebuilding something that has already been damaged. The pages below explain what each treatment involves, when it is the right answer, what the trade-offs are, and what happens if you wait. If you are in pain right now, start with dental emergencies or call (559) 683-4694.

How we decide

Conservative first, and only what the tooth actually needs.

There is almost always more than one reasonable way to treat a tooth. The right one depends on how much healthy structure is left, what your bite does to it, what you can maintain, and what you want.

  1. Diagnosis before treatment

Nothing gets treated until we know what is wrong and why. That means an exam, images, and in many cases tests of the nerve inside the tooth. Guessing is expensive.

  2. Stabilize, then rebuild

Active decay and gum disease get handled before anything cosmetic or complex. Building on an unstable foundation is how good dentistry fails early.

  3. Keep as much tooth as possible

Enamel does not grow back. Where a smaller restoration will hold, that is what we do. Where it will not, we say so rather than buying a year at the cost of the tooth.

  4. You hear the whole picture

What we found, what your options are, what each one costs, and what happens if you do nothing. Then you decide. If a case belongs with a specialist, we will tell you that too.

Ready when you are.

Call the office during business hours and you will speak to someone who works here, not an answering service. Prefer to write? Send an appointment request and we will call you back.

Monday to Wednesday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. For a life-threatening emergency call 911 rather than the office.
